Business Solutions Group
The Business Solutions Group, sponsored by the Olathe Chamber of Commerce, is a collection of volunteers committed to helping
area organizations meet their business goals through better technology, ideas,
and education.
Speaking to the Group and Public
How can I be placed on the schedule to make a presentation to a monthly lunch and
learn?
As the Business Solutions Group is a volunteer group within the Olathe Chamber of
Commerce, the first qualification to speak is that a
presenter (or presenter's company) be a member of the Olathe Chamber of
Commerce. Rare exceptions, when a topic is slated
but informed presenter is not available within membership,
may be granted by the BSG leadership.
The next qualification is to be knowledgeable on a topic
of interest to the BSG committee. Selections of
topics and presenters are typically made at the business
meetings of the group. Attend to express your
interest in the group.
Frequency policies
At its Lunch-and-Learn sessions,
this group will repeat a topic no more than once
a year. It will repeat a presenter (company) no
more than once every half-year (6 months).
What can I do to make a successful presentation?
Here are some promotions-oriented methods that have
proven highly successful for past presenters.
- Join in active promotion of the session - both to your
own set of contacts and at Chamber events.
- Attend at least the 2 coffees prior to the presentation (field any questions and establish recognition with
people) Be recognized when coffee emcees
recognize the Business Solutions Group.
- At the presentation, provide up to 3 door prizes, related or not to
the topic. Or work with the Chamber to provide those incentives to attendees.
Presenter Guidelines:
- Should be presented in second or third person (you
or he/she/they), not first person (I/we).
- Should present practical "how to" guidance
about the topic under discussion.
- Should NOT be a sales pitch. (Emphasize the topic, not the presenter's
company/motive.)
- Generally avoid recommending businesses, products and
services by name (unless the assignment is a review or
market comparison).
- Presenters should provide a statement of
title/professional credentials along with contact
information at the foot of any
written material or on white board/overhead.
Presenter's Environment:
The Chamber (and host facility City of Olathe) can
provide any of these resources:
- laptop
- projector
- screen
- internet access
- copied materials if originals are provided well
in advance of presentation date
